Dr. Heather Carr | Owner & Founder
Through her 18 years of practice and a plethora of continuing education, Dr. Heather Carr has developed a new holistic framework and approach to Physical Therapy.
She has come to view the human body as a complex, multi-dimensional entity comprised of physical, emotional, mental, and energetic elements. These components interact with one another and make up the blueprint of who you are.
Furthermore, they define how you physically feel, move, and what you can do in your life. Her vision is to unify your physical elements such as your movement, posture, breathing, and physiology with your mind and energy systems to facilitate whole-body healing and transformation.
In 2011, Heather decided to open up her own practice due to the frustrations of working in traditional outpatient Physical Therapy clinics. She found the productivity pressures in these settings did not allow her to give her patients optimal care.
She believes that providing adequate time for her patient’s needs delivered in a personalized 1:1 setting is essential for individuals to reach their therapy goals. The name of her practice, “One 2 One Physical Therapy,” was chosen to express the 1:1 nature of how our sessions are performed.
Education & Experience
Heather holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy (University of St. Augustine, 2008); Master of Science in Physical Therapy (Boston University, 2002); and a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies (Boston University, 2000).
She is Board Certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) (2008) and holds a Certification in Manual Therapy (MTC) from the University of St. Augustine (2007).
In October 2013, Heather took her first course, Postural Respiration, through the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI). Since then, she has taken 17 courses through the institute and became Postural Restoration Certified (PRC) in 2015.
Heather believes that the PRI approach provides a strong comprehensive method and theoretical framework to integrate all her eclectic training and skills.
In 2015, Heather completed the Nutritional Therapy Practitioner certification program through the Nutritional Therapy Association (NTA), fueled by her strong belief in the importance of proper nutrition to address her patients’ needs holistically.
The approach of this program uses principles of balanced whole food nutrition while respecting bio-individuality. The works of Weston A. Price, DDS, Francis Pottenger, MD, Melvin Page, DDS, and Royal Lee, DDS are a foundation of the NTA’s philosophy. She has written several nutrition-based articles that may be accessed on her blog: http://heathercarrdpt.com.
In 2016 Heather became certified in a sound healing modality called Biofield Tuning. The human body exhibits numerous interacting biofields (Rubik et al., 2015), (Kefatos et al. 2015), (Hammerschlag et al. 2015) which influence our physiological balance and regulation.
Through the application of coherent sound, it is possible to facilitate improved physical function and health. Since learning this technique, Heather has done over 1000 sound treatments with exciting and, at times, incredible results.
She has discovered working with sound at the level of an individual’s biofield has allowed certain individuals to reach their physical goals, which previously were unattainable.
In 2017 Heather began her work as a certified facilitator through the Phoenix Center for Regenetics, using specific sound techniques to heal different body energy fields and different levels sequentially. Through this method, Heather has personally and professionally witnessed profound shifts in physical, mental, and emotional health and well-being.
She has found that these energy activations coupled with the myriad of other services offered at One 2 One Physical Therapy provide a powerful catalyst to assist one in transforming all aspects of their body, mind, and spirit for true holistic healing to take you where you want to go ultimately.
When Heather is not at the office working with patients and directing the operations of One 2 One, she can often be found concurrently reading multiple books and research articles about improving further and developing the services offered at One 2 One.
She is passionate about carving out time to be able to play her favorite sport, tennis, but most importantly, spend time with her cherished, supportive, and loving husband, Jan.
She is eternally grateful to all of the family members that comprise One 2 One and makes it the one-of-a-kind special healing entity that it is.
