How are we different than traditional Physical Therapy?

All sessions at One 2 One Physical Therapy are (as our name implies) 1:1 with your Doctor of Physical Therapy taking place in a private treatment room. We specialize in working with a wide range of conditions such as acute orthopaedic and sports injuries to longstanding, complex multi-factorial conditions such as chronic pain, fibromyalgia, headaches, TMJ dysfunction, pelvic floor problems, concussion syndrome, POTs and scoliosis.

One of the most important first steps in our process is to clearly define your goals and what you hope to achieve through your work with us. We take a very detailed history to construct a full picture of your current multi-dimensional body patterns. This includes past traumas as the body can hold onto trauma if it hasn't been fully processed.

People often come to see us for pain of all types and how it is limiting their daily function and life. We view pain as a messenger of an underlying imbalance in the body and it is our intention to get to the root of the pain signal. The physical problems we treat are connected to corresponding energetic disturbances that also hold emotional and mental patterns. When addressing a primary complaint such as pain in the body we evaluate the following patterns that are potentially creating your pain or limitation:

  • Postural patterns through an in-depth evaluation of your posture utilizing the Postural Restoration Institute © method. This is a full-body approach, assessing range of motion, alignment, and muscle activation from your feet all the way up through your pelvis, ribcage, neck, shoulders, extremities, jaw, and head (even your bite!). This is a neurologic lens for assessing posture that also includes vision, vestibular, and proprioceptive components. Utilizing the Masgutova Neurosensory Reflex Integration (MNRI) approach, we assess primary reflexes and their relationship to human motor patterning and posture in our patients of ALL ages. By detecting primary reflexes that have not been integrated (or have re-emerged due to trauma and/or stress) we can unlock the brain's ability to connect to the body from a foundational level. This strengthens the nervous system, improves stress resilience, and induces neuroplasticity.
  • Physiological patterns such as nutrition, sleep, and self-care behaviors with consideration of potential levels of inflammation and toxicity in your body. It is imperative that your body be physiologically supported for your healing process. When your cells are burdened with toxins and oxidative stress they cannot dedicate their energy and resources for optimal functioning and restorative healing.
  • Mental/emotional stress patterns to understand your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions related to your body, ability to move, and pain experiences. Your energy field reflects these aspects of yourself in which we can tune into and discern any blockages that may be occurring.

Once we have established your unique patterns and goals, we will create a customized treatment plan that typically includes a mixture of our services. This is a collaborative process between you and your Physical Therapist. Each plan of care is individualized and intended to provide you with the opportunities and support you need to achieve your goals. These plans are fluid in nature and evolve as you do. We meet you where you are and with what you are comfortable participating in, as we understand not every service is indicated for everyone.
